Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data sho.ng collects and how we use it.
Account Information (optional)
If you create an account, we store your name and email address. This is used to identify your account and enable Pro features like custom links and analytics. We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the services. We also retain and use your information as necessary to comply with our legal and tax obligations.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused, open-source analytics tool hosted on our own infrastructure. We use it to understand how sho.ng is used. This data is fully anonymous — we do not store IP addresses, and no tracking cookies are used.
Song-Level Analytics
We track anonymous, aggregated statistics for individual song pages (e.g., total visits, platform clicks). This data contains no personal identifiers and no IP addresses are stored.
Platform Preferences
When you click on a streaming platform, we remember your preference to improve the order platforms are shown in. This data is stored in your browser's localStorage and, if you have an account, synced to our server.

We use the data we collect to:
- Operate and improve the sho.ng service
- Provide Pro features to registered users
- Show anonymous song-level analytics to song owners
- Understand usage patterns to make the service better
We never sell your personal information to third parties.
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or delete your personal data. You also have the right to restrict or object to the processing of your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@sho.ng.
- Right of Access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to Erasure — you can request that we delete your personal data (right to be forgotten).
- Right to Restriction — you can ask us to limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
- Right to Object — you can object to the processing of your personal data where we rely on legitimate interests.
We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
sho.ng integrates with third-party streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, and others) to fetch song metadata and generate links. When you click a platform link, you are redirected to that platform's website, which is governed by their own privacy policy.
Your data is stored on servers operated by Hetzner Online GmbH, located in Germany, within the European Union. No personal data is transferred outside the EU.
Payments for sho.ng Pro are processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe may collect information necessary to process your payment in accordance with their privacy policy.
sho.ng currently does not use cookies for tracking. If you create an account, an authentication session cookie is used solely to keep you logged in. In the future, we may introduce cookies for features like custom user pages — this policy will be updated accordingly.
